EnviroMix announced today that its BioMix™ Compressed Gas Mixing System will be installed at Beaufort Jasper Water and Sewer Authority’s (BJWSA) – Hardeeville WRF. The BioMix system will be installed as part of the facility upgrade and expansion from 1 mgd to 2.7 mgd. The upgrade and expansion of the Hardeeville WRF will have a beneficial impact on the water quality of the Savannah River by providing means for a higher level of treatment.
The system is designed by HDR Engineers of Charleston, SC and will be constructed by State Utility Contractors of Monroe, NC. As part of the project, a new flow equalization basin and new biological treatment process will be constructed. BioMix will be installed to effectively mix the flow equalization basin contents through its full range of operating depth and to uniformly mix and optimize conditions for the anoxic selectors of the biological process.
The BioMix system is unique in that both the flow equalization basin and the anoxic selectors will receive mixing air from a common, centralized compressor system and the mixing efficiency can be locally controlled and optimized by plant operations staff. The BioMix system will provide: (1) a system which can easily adapt to changing mixing requirements (2) reduced O&M expense eliminating in-basin maintenance (3) the lowest operating cost of any available mixing technology.
“The decision to select EnviroMix’s technology included both lower operating cost and reduced maintenance expense versus alternative traditional mechanical mixing systems. The EnviroMix system is a proven mixing system as evidenced by other local installations and we are confident that BJWSA will benefit from this system,” says Brian Chemsak, P.E., director of engineering for BJWSA.
The BioMix system is expected to be operational by the fall of 2018. EnviroMix is pleased to provide the Beaufort Jasper Water and Sewer Authority with an energy-efficient and low maintenance mixing process designed to meet their treatment quality requirements.
