EnviroMix announced today that its energy-efficient compressed gas mixing technology will be utilized at the Center Street Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. This four million gallon per day (MGD) advanced wastewater treatment facility will be comprehensively upgraded to provide more reliable treatment at the rated capacity.
EnviroMix will provide its technology to mix two anoxic selector cells and one equalization basin. The technology leverages proprietary hardware and software solutions to enable optimum process results. A portion of this upgrade will utilize the plant’s current footprint to modify existing process basins, which includes the conversion of two primary clarifiers to anoxic zones. These modifications demonstrate a competitive advantage of the BioMix™ system over conventional mechanical mixers by providing uniform mixing across sloped bottom floors. The BioMix system also eliminates the need for an additional infrastructure typically required for legacy mixing technology.
By implementing energy-efficient technologies such as the BioMix system, Mount Pleasant Waterworks (MPW) was able to substantiate that 32% of this capital project met the requirements set forth by the EPA Green Project Reserve Fund. This outcome resulted in MPW receiving $8M through the State Revolving Fund Program at an interest rate of 1%. Over the term of the loan, this will save MPW more than $1M.
The BioMix system is expected to be operational by September 2013. EnviroMix is pleased to provide Mount Pleasant Waterworks with engineered, energy-efficient mixing solutions as part of their advanced wastewater treatment processes at the Center Street WWTP.
