Energy Savings Performance Contract – Winchester, Virginia

EnviroMix announced today that its technology will be utilized as part of an energy savings performance contract (ESPC) with the Frederick-Winchester Service Authority (FWSA) in Winchester, Virginia. The 12.6 million gallon per day (MGD) Opequon Water Reclamation Facility, currently under construction, will be a Green Energy Facility to process municipal sludge and high-strength organic waste, from food processors in the Shenandoah Valley.

EnviroMix will provide its BioMix™ Compressed Gas Mixing System to mix waste activated sludge (WAS) and high strength waste receiving (HSW) tanks. The system will be installed in the current footprint of the reconfigured sludge holding tanks. The BioMix system was chosen over conventional diffused air or mechanical mixing technology, which will allow the facility to avoid significantly higher operating and maintenance costs associated with competitive mixing technologies.

Bob Wimmer, (lead process engineer) of Black & Veatch, which is handling project design and engineering, states, “This project is an excellent example of an energy performance contract at a water reclamation facility providing operational efficiency and sustainable infrastructure solutions – EnviroMix is a key part of that success.”

The BioMix system is expected to be operational by summer of 2015. EnviroMix is pleased to provide the Frederick-Winchester Service Authority with a straight-forward, energy-efficient mixing solution as part of their Green Energy project.
