Charleston, SC, February 11, 2019 – EnviroMix announced today that its BioMix™ Compressed Gas Mixing System will be installed as part of a major Midwest international airport’s stormwater and deicing capacity project. This installation, designed by Hazen & Sawyer and constructed by Bowen Engineering Corp, will be the largest BioMix system ever implemented.
The facility’s stormwater and deicing storage system utilizing BioMix, will provide for storage, equalization, and mixing of stormwater and deicing fluid prior to treatment at the municipal treatment plant. The three mixed basins combined are longer than four football fields with a depth of 30 feet, which makes the basins the largest ever to be equipped with BioMix Compressed Gas Mixing and thus requires special consideration of all design aspects of the system.
Tyler Kunz, P.E., Vice President states, “Selection of BioMix for the project was predicated on the technology having significantly lower energy consumption than other mixing technologies, and the maintenance-free aspect of the in-basin nozzles saved an estimated $6,000,000 in project design cost. The EnviroMix system provides the necessary confidence in this application.”
The BioMix system is expected to be operational by the fall of 2019. EnviroMix is pleased to provide the end user with an energy efficient and low maintenance mixing system for a critical application.
